Most people won't say they are treasures, they call it stuff. They look around their homes and say "we have a lot of stuff." They are not sure what to do with it so they'll put it in a closet or in the garage. Then will they run out of room they out it in storage.
Americans spend billions of dollars a year on storage buildings and supplies to keep their stuff. Then in no time at all they look around and have more stuff and the process repeats it's self.
Take a moment and assess how much stuff you have accumulated in your life time and how much you have been given and have no place to put it.
How much of it do you really need. How much of it is really a treasure to you or your family. Are you going to use it or is it going to cost you more to keep it than it is worth.
These so called treasures can easily become entanglements and can rob you of your future. You may think that is not true but there is a spiritual law taking affect.
Now is the time to purge yourself of many if these treasures and in turn keep the ones that are of true value. Stuff in times becomes junk and before you know it you are paying hundreds of dollars to store junk and the time will come when you have to deal with it. If you don't then someone will and it is usually your children.
The Bible says in Matthew 6:19-21 19"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Jesus addressed this issue when the rich young man came to Him. Jesus answered his question and then went right to the heart issue. In Matthew 19:21-22
21Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
22When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.
The man had a lot of stuff not just money. He viewed himself as rich because of all of the treasures he had accumulated in is life not including what he had inherited. Jesus was telling him that his riches were nothing compared to Heavens treasures. Jesus knew that if the young man was not willing to give up what he thought was priceless that he would never be able to be free from its entanglements.
It's a heart issue. It is time to focus on what the Lord says the are treasures and those are people and the issues that affects them
